Who Are We?

Urban farming by the community for the community

Growing Farmers Inc. is a community-led project that originated in the Merri-keb local government area in Melbourne, Australia.  We came together in January 2020  as a group of residents concerned about the current climate and environmental crises. We are passionate about building a stronger, more resilient local food system that is better for the environment and for our community. The Growing Farmers’ mission is to support regenerative farming in urban communities. We do this by assisting aspiring farmers with land, mentoring, networks and business coaching, all while building stronger community connections and providing fresh produce to our local community. It’s a win-win outcome for all of us!

The future of Growing Farmers is in accessing land to provide space and to support aspiring urban farmers. We are grateful to be working with our partners to strengthen the food system in the City of Merri-bek and beyond.
